Nephronectin

The gene (approved gene symbol NPNT) encoding nephronectin has been cloned by Brandenberger et al (2001) and Morimura et al (2001), who referred to it as POEM [Preosteoblast EGF-like repeat protein with MAM domain]. In databanks the term EGFL6-like is used as a synonym. Huang and Lee (2005) have identified Nephronectin transcript variants and shown that human and mouse proteins share 88 % amino acid identity with their mouse homologs.
