[neurotrophin-5, neurotrophic factor-5]; also: neuronotrophin-5. NT-5 (also: NTF5) is a mammalian homolog of NT-4 which was isolated initially from Xenopus laevis (Berkemeier et al, 1991). The term NT-4/5 has been used in reference to the observation that the mammalian factor is much more divergent from its Xenopus NT-4 counterpart than other members of the neurotrophin family (Ibanez, 1996).
