[NLR family, pyrin-domain containing 14] This is the approved gene symbol for a protein described as NALP14 [NACHT-LRR-PYD-containing protein-14] (Tschopp et al, 2003), and NOD5 [Nucleotide-binding oligomerization domain protein 5] (Inohara and Nuñez, 2003). A databank alias is PAN8 [PAAD and NACHT-containing protein 8]. As a member of the CLR family (see also: NLR family) NLRP14 has been identified also as CLR11.2 (for nomenclature see also: Ting et al, 2008).
The protein has been implicated in the activation of pro-inflammatory caspases involving the inflammasome
