NLRC4
[NLR family, CARD domain containing 4] This is the approved gene symbol for proteins that have been described as CARD12 [caspase recruitment domain-containing protein-12], IPAF [ICE protease-activating factor], and CLAN [CARD LRR and NACHT domain-containing protein]. The protein is a member of the NLR family. For nomenclature see also: Ting et al (2008).
NLRC4 is a component of a structure involved in inflammatory cell death, termed inflammasome (NLRC4 inflammasome), and therefore plays a role in innate immunity and cell death phenomena.
