[Natural killer cell p46-related protein] This cell surface antigen has been identified by Sivori et al (1997) by means of a monoclonal antibody (BAB281) that triggers cell lysis mediated by NK-cells. The cDNA for this antigen has been cloned by Pessino et al (1998). The receptor exists in multiple splice variants and is generally regarded as an activating receptor. It exists in multiple splice variants, and some of these are inhibitory rather than activating receptors (for overview see: Shemesh et al, 2018).
In the nomenclature of CD antigens the new designation for this antigen is CD335 (Warren, 2005). The approved gene symbol is
