[New molecule containing SH3 at the carboxy-terminus]. The approved gene symbol for this protein is RUSC1 [RUN and SH3 domain containing 1].
The cDNA for this protein has been cloned by Matsuda et al (2000). It encodes a protein with an SH3 domain, a leucine zipper motif, a WW domain, a RUN domain and several leucine-rich regions, and is thought to be an adapter protein. MacDonald et al (2004) have reported that NESCA is expressed highly in the brain and is involved in neurotrophic signal transduction.
