[neutrophil-activating protein-4] Don't confuse with NAP4 [Nck-associated protein-4].
This protein of approximately 8 kDa is isolated from a lysate of human platelets. It can be purified on affinity columns with antibodies directed against NAP-1. The N-terminal sequence demonstrates that NAP-4 is a distinct factor with a strong homology to PF4 (platelet factor-4). NAP-4 lacks two cysteine residues that are normally conserved in members of the PF4 family of proteins (Schröder et al, 1990, 1997).
