[marginal zone B and B1 cell-specific protein] This is the approved gene symbol for a protein encoded by an open reading frame designated HSPC190. The encoded protein has been identified independently as the pro-apoptotic protein Pacap [pro-apoptotic caspase adaptor protein] (with MGC29506 as the major splice variant), the adipokine MEDA-7 [mesenteric oestrogen-dependent adipose gene-7], and as a resident ER protein termed pERp1 [plasma cell-induced ER protein 1].
