[mucin 13] A databank synonym for this protein is DRCC1 [Down-regulated in colon cancer 1].
The human MUC13 gene has been cloned by Williams et al (2001). The protein is expressed as a secreted protein and in membrane-associated form in intestinal epithelial cells and lymphoid cells. Human MUC13 has been localized on the apical membrane of columnar cells and goblet cells in the gastrointestinal tract and in goblet cell thecae.
