[macrophage cytotoxicity inducing factor-2] A biochemically uncharacterized factor found in the conditioned medium of murine T-cells in limiting dilution cultures (see also: Limiting dilution analysis) and a long-term T-cell clone. MCIF-2 synergizes with IFN-gamma in inducing macrophage tumor cytotoxicity; IFN-gamma and MCIF-2 alone are ineffective. It appears that IFN-gamma serves as the priming factor and MCIF-2 as the triggering signal for macrophage cell activation. See also: MCF.
