[MCMV M33; murine cytomegalovirus M33] This protein is encoded by an open reading frame in the genome of murine cytomegalovirus (Rawlinson et al, 1996; Davis-Poynter et al, 1997). The gene encodes a G-protein-coupled receptor which has been shown to function as a receptor for the chemokine RANTES and promotes virus-induced migration of vascular smooth muscle cells (Melnychuk et al, 2005).
