Lek(a)

The antibody of this name recognizes an epitope on the heavy chain of platelet glycoprotein GPIIb (Boizard and Wautier, 1984; Kiefer et al, 1984). Keimowitz et al (1986) and von dem Borne and van der Plas-van Dalen (1986) have shown that this antigen is identical with the Bak(a) allele of the Bak platelet antigen. In the nomenclature for platelet antigens the designation for this alloantigen is HPA-3 [human platelet antigen-3].

In the nomenclature of CD antigens the designation for the antigen is CD41.
