[lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1] This is the same as LFA-1-alpha [lymphocyte function-associated antigen-1-alpha]. LFA-1 has been identified originally as an antigen associated with human T-lymphocyte mediated cytolysis (Sanchez-Madrid et al, 1982; Krensky et al, 1983).
LFA-1 has been identified as a receptor for extracellular secreted ISG15 [interferon-stimulated gene-15] (see).
In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD11a.
