This peptide, KSO peptide, with the sequence Tyr-Asn-Trp-Asn-Ser-Pheamide (YNWNSFamide) is derived by cleavage with matrix metalloproteinases from Kisspeptin-10, which itself is a shortened form of KISS1 [kisspeptin-1] (see: Metastin). Kissorphin inhibits forskolin-stimulated cAMP production in ND7/23 neuroblastoma cells by acting through a receptor of NPFF [neuropeptide FF].
Despite sequence similarity with NPFF, Kissorphin does not possess the ability to release GnIH [gonadotropin-inhibitory hormone
