[Neuroblastoma cells]
this term refers to a common extracranial malignant tumor of childhood originating from primordial neural crest cells that normally give rise to adrenal medulla and sympathetic neural ganglia. Neuroblastoma and derived cell lines consist of three basic cell types that differ in their morphological, biochemical and tumorigenic properties, and these have to be taken into account when such cell lines are used as model systems.
