KSHV orf63
This open reading frame is encoded in the genome of Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (See: KSHV). The encoded protein, viral NLRP1 (viral DEFCAP, viral CARD7, viral NALP1, viral NAC), has been shown to be a viral homolog of human NLRP1, which is a component of the multiprotein complex called inflammasome that promotes microbial clearance (see also: DEFCAP [death effector filament-forming CED4-like apoptosis protein]).
