[Kupffer cell activating factor] This biochemically uncharacterized factor which is derived from lymphocytes and causes cell activation of Kupffer cells has been described by Mizoguchi et al (1981). Kupffer cells activated by KCAF are cytotoxic for isolated liver cells, causing marked inhibition of albumin synthesis.
