[Inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor H5] (also: ITI-HC5 [Inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor Heavy Chain 5]) has been identified by Himmelfarb (2004). The cDNA has been cloned independently as KIAA1953 (Nagase et al, 2001). ITIH5 is a secreted protein and is a member of the ITI [Inter-alpha-trypsin inhibitor] heavy chain gene family.
Anveden et al (2012) have reported that ITIH5 is highly expressed in subcutaneous adipocytes, increased in obesity, down-regulated after weight loss, and associated with measures of body size and metabolism.
Huth et al (2015) have reported that ITIH5 represents the major ITI
