[interleukin-33] The gene encoding IL33 has been identified by Schmitz et al (2005). The gene has been identified independently as NFHEV [nuclear factor from high endothelial venules] by Baekkevold et al (2003) in a search for genes expressed preferentially in high endothelial venule endothelial cells. The encoded protein has a nuclear localization. Other designations for this gene are C9orf26 [chromosome 9 open reading frame 26] and IL1F11 [IL1 family member 11]. The gene encoding IL33 has been identified independently as DVS27.
