abbr. HEV cells; abbr. HEVs [High endothelial venule cells]; also: high endothelial cells. (abbr. HECs). These specialised endothelial cells are cells found in high endothelial venules, venous swellings found in secondary lymphoid organs other than the spleen. These venules also develop in non-lymphoid organs during chronic inflammation, and are found also in solid, vascularized tumors.
