IL1H1
[IL1 homolog-1] The gene encoding this protein has been identified in an expressed sequence tag data base. The same gene has been described by other authors as FIL1-epsilon, IL1RP2. The approved gene symbol is IL1F9 [Interleukin-1 family member 9].
The encoded protein of 169 amino acids does not contain a hydrophobic signal sequence. IL1H1 has no propeptide sequence and encodes only the mature protein (Kumar et al, 2000). IL1H1 has a three-dimensional structure that is similar to that of IL1ra.
IL1H1 is constitutively expressed only in placenta and the squamous epithelium of the esophagus. In keratinocytes, its synthesis can be induced by IFN-gamma and
