IL1-L1

[IL1-like protein-1] IL1-L1 is a protein of 155 amino acids that shares 27 % identity with IL1-beta and 47 % with IL1 receptor antagonist, IL1ra (Barton et al, 2000). The cDNA has been cloned from human placenta. The predicted IL1-L1 protein lacks a signal sequence and glycosylation signals.

IL1-L1 does not block the activation of IL6 expression in primary human fibroblasts or human umbilical vein endothelial cells, which depends on IL1-alpha or IL1-beta. The factor does not stimulate IL6 production in these cells.
