[IL10-related T-cell derived inducible factor] The name IL22 (interleukin-22) has been given to this factor. Databank synonyms for this protein are Zcyto18, IL-D110 and TIFIL-23.
This glycosylated factor (180 amino acids including a signal sequence; 25 kDa) was identified by a cDNA subtraction method as a gene induced specifically by IL9 in mouse T-lymphocytes. The protein shows limited homoly with IL10 (22 % amino acid identity). Human and murine IL-TIF proteins share 79 % amino acid identity.
