IFI17

[interferon-induced protein 17] This membrane protein of 17 kDa has been identified by Deblandre et al (1995). Its expression is inducible on tumor cell lines by IFN-alpha and IFN-gamma. IFI17 expression appears to be correlated with the sensitivity of cell lines to growth suppression by interferons. Sequence analysis of the cDNA shows that the encoded protein is identical except for 1 residue to protein 9-27. The protein is identical also with Leu13 antigen identified previously as a 16 kDa interferon-inducible protein in leukocytes and endothelial.

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD225.
