[innate defense regulator peptide 1018] This synthetic cationic peptide, VRLIVAVRIWRRamide, is an innate immune defense regulator derived by substantial modification of the bovine cathelicidin bactenecin.
In addition to immunomodulatory activities IDR-1018, the peptide also promotes wound healing independent of direct antibacterial activity. However, these effects are not observed in diabetic wounds, in which the modulation of host immune pathways may be suppressed (Steinstraesser et al, 2012).
