[Hsc70/Hsp90-organizing protein; Hsp70/Hsp90-organizing protein] This protein acts as an adaptor for the heat shock proteins hsp70 and hsp90 (Chen and Smith, 1998; Scheufler et al, 2000; Flom et al, 2007) and organizes the formation of chaperone heterocomplexes (Odunuga et al, 2003; Prodromou et al, 2000). The protein can translocate to the nucleus (Longshaw et al, 2000).
Sequence analysis shows that this protein is the same as STIP1 [Stress-induced-phosphoprotein 1], a protein implicated in cell death and as a possible growth factor.
