The cDNA for HM74 has been isolated from a cDNA library prepared from human monocytes, using degenerate oligonucleotide primers devised from conserved sequences among the cDNAs encoding the human receptors for the leukocyte chemoattractants IL8, N-formyl peptides and C5a (Nomura et al, 1993). The protein is a G-protein-coupled receptor of 387 amino acids. It is expressed in peripheral blood mononuclear cells and neutrophils. The protein has been identified independently as PUMA-G and is known also as GPR109B [G-protein-coupled receptor-109B
