H23

H23 antigen (referred to also as H23 ETA, H23 epithelial tumor antigen) is a glycoprotein of 68 kDa that is recognized by a monoclonal antibody of the same name in the conditioned medium of the human breast adenocarcinoma cell line T47D and in pleural effusion fluids from breast adenocarcinoma patients. This antigen is an epithelial tumor antigen expressed aberrantly in 91 % of breast tumors (Keydar et al, 1989). The corresponding gene has been cloned by Tsarfaty et al (1990) and Hareuveni et al (1990). Two splice forms arising by alternative splicing yield a secreted form of the antigen and a transmembrane form (Wreschner et al, 1990)

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD227.
