FGF16

(approved gene symbol) [Fibroblast growth factor-16] This protein is a member of the fibroblast growth factor (FGF) family of proteins. The cDNA of this factor was isolated from rat heart by homology-based polymerase chain reaction (Miyake et al, 1998). It encodes a protein of 207 amino acids that is a member of the FGF family. FGF16 is most similar to FGF9 (73 % amino acid identity). The protein sequence of human FGF16 displays 98.6 % identity with rat FGF16. Chimpanzee FGF16 (207 amino acids), chicken FGF16 (207 amino acids), and zebrafish FGF16 (203 amino acids) show 100 %, 89.9 %, and 79.2 % total amino acid identity with human ... ... ... ... ...
