[fatty acid binding protein 4] This is the approved gene symbol for a protein that has been described under different names. The protein has been identified independently by Bernlohr et al (1984) as 422 protein, which is expressed highly in adipocytes and shares a high degree of homology with myelin P2. It has been identified independently as aP2 [adipocyte P2; adipocyte protein 2], that also shows differentiation-dependent expression in adipocytes (Hunt et al, 1986). Matarese and Bernlohr (1988) have reported that the protein isolated from adipocytes that they termed ALBP [adipocyte lipid-binding protein ... ... ... ...
