[Eriocheir sinensis Lectin D] This C-type lectin of 155 amino acids, containing a carbohydrate recognition domain, has been identified in the crustacean Eriocheir sinensis (Guo et al, 2013). The lectin acts as a pattern recognition receptor participating in the innate immunity of invertebrates. EsLecD is expressed mainly in the hepatopancreas but rarely in other tissues, and its expression is upregulated significantly in the hepatopancreas after immune challenge with lipopolysaccharides. Recombinant EsLecD has been shown to bind to a number of microorganisms, including bacteria and yeast
