[EBI-1-Ligand Chemokine] Part of the sequence had been identified by searches in the expressed sequence tag (EST) data base. The complete cDNA sequence encodes a highly basic polypeptide of a total 98 amino acids with 20 to 30 % identity to other human CC-Chemokines. The gene for ELC (SCYA19) has been mapped to chromosome 9p13. ELC is identical with Ck-beta-11 and MIP-3-beta. ELC is referred to also as Exodus-3. The factor has been renamed CCL19. See also: SCY family of cytokines for a systematic nomenclature used previously.
ELC mRNA is expressed most strongly in the thymus and lymph nodes.
