Drosophila CoREST
This Drosophila melanogaster gene (gene: CG42687; known also as CG33525, CG3878, CG32535) encodes the fly ortholog of mammalian RCOR1 [REST corepressor 1]. The Drosophila protein, like its mammalian counterpart, is part of a protein complex required to regulate neuronal gene expression and represses transcription of neuron-specific genes in non-neuronal cells (Dallmann et al, 2004; Lakowski et al (2006).
Domanitskaya and Schüpbach (2012) have reported that Drosophila CoREST acts as a positive modulator of the Notch pathway in the follicular
