This is the name (derived from the Basque word dardara, meaning tremor) of the protein encoded by the PARK8 [Parkinson disease-8; Autosomal Dominant Parkinson Disease-8] gene, mutations in which are a common cause of familian Parkinson's disease. See: LRRK2, which is the approved gene symbol (Paisán-Ruíz et al, 2004).
