A murine stromal cell-dependent pre-B-cell cell line (see also: long-term BMC; bone marrow culture). Stromal cell-dependent growth of DW34 cells is facilitated by surface expression on fibroblasts of the bone marrow stromal cells antigen BST-2. DW34 cells are completely dependent on IL7 (see also: Factor-dependent cell lines).
The cell line is used in bioassays of this factor (see also: cytokine assays). The activity of IL7 is determined by measuring the incorporation of tritiated thymidine into the newly synthesized DNA
