Caspy, called also caspase a (caspa), is one of the caspases found in the zebrafish Danio rerio. The protein contains an N-terminal Pyrin domain. A related protein with a different substrate specificity is Caspy2 (also: caspase b; caspb).
Expression of Caspy induces cell death by apoptosis in mammalian cells. The effect is inhibited by general inhibitors of caspases. Caspy, but not Caspy2, interacts with the zebrafish ortholog of ASC
