This term refers to two Drosophila melanogaster neuropeptides encoded by two different splice variants of gene CG13936 (Jung SH et al, 2014). These peptides are CG13936-PB peptide (QYMSPCHFKICNMGamide) and CG13936-PD peptide (NVQYMSPCHFKICNMGamide).
Both peptides are highly potent and selective agonists for the orphan G-protein-coupled receptor encoded by gene CG33696 (termed CNMaR [CNMa receptor]). CNMa is conserved in most arthropods, but Lepidoptera lack the CNMa gene. However, they retain the CNMaR gene. Bombyx CNMaR
