CL100 has been identified as an early response gene the transcription of which is stimulated rapidly and transiently up to 40-fold in human skin fibroblasts exposed to oxidative/heat stress and growth factors (Keyse and Emslie, 1992). The protein has been identified independently as AURA23 [augmented in rheumatoid arthritis 23].
