[Bishop blood group antigens]
abbr. Bpa, first described by Liotta et al (1981), is a low-incidence erythrocyte antigen. Jarolim et al (1998) have reported that ELO involves the mutation at position 569 Asn>Lys of erythrocyte band 3 protein (CD233). This antigen, therefore, can be assigned to the Diego blood group system.
