[BAFF receptor] Approved gene symbol: TNFRSF13C [TNF receptor superfamily member 13C]. The receptor has been identified independently as BR3 [BLyS receptor 3, abbr. BLySR3; BAFF receptor 3].
The gene for this receptor has been identified by Thompson et al (2001) after screening a cDNA library established from a B-cell line that does not express BCMA and expresses only low levels of TACI, two receptors known to bind to BAFF (which is identical with BLyS). Receptor transcripts have been found in spleen and lymph node, and at lower levels in thymus and peripheral blood
