B-B2 antigen

This antigen is recognized by a monoclonal antibody of the same name. The monoclonal antibody recognizes the CD antigen CD138. Gattei et al (1999) have investigated the reactivity of B-B2. B-B2 recognizes only nondenatured Syndecan-1. It is poorly reactive by immunoblotting with both intact and recombinant Syndecan-1 protein. Dore et al (1998) have identified the epitope recognized by B-B2 as QDIT (residues 36-39 of the core protein, close to a potential glycosaminoglycan attachment site).
