[Activation-induced C-type lectin] Databank synonyms for AICL are CLEC2B [C-type lectin domain family 2 member B] and IFNRG1 [IFN-alpha-2b-inducing-related protein 1].
The gene encoding AICL has been cloned by Hamann et al (1997) who characterized the protein as an activation antigen expressed in different cell types of hematopoietic origin the expression of which is increased rapidly during lymphocyte activation.
