ACE

[angiotensin-converting enzyme; angiotensin-1 converting enzyme]. This enzyme is an integral part of the renin-angiotensin system involved in the processing of angiotensinogen to Angiotensin-2. See: Angiotensin. For the Drosophila melanogaster ortholog see: Ance [Angiotensin-converting enzyme].

In the nomenclature of CD antigens this protein has been given the designation CD143.
