This antigen is recognized by a monoclonal antibody of the same name. Yamabe et al (1997) have isolated a cDNA clone for this antigen and shown that the encoded protein is identical with the TA1 antigen, defined by another monoclonal antibody, and thus identical with CD26. They have reported also that CD26 is an activation antigen on CD16(+) CD56(+) NK-cells the expression of which is inducible on these cells by IL2, IL12 or IL15 but not by IFN-gamma.
