[viral PYD-only protein; viral pyrin-only protein 1] This protein, also viral PYPAF1 or viral NLRP3, is encoded in the genome of the poxvirus Shope fibroma virus [Shope fibroma virus PYRIN-only protein]. It is a viral homolog of POP-1 [pyrin-only protein 1] (see: PYPAF1 [Pyrin-containing APAF-1-like protein 1]). The viral protein directly associates with ASC (CARD5) and inhibits signal transduction.
