[tyrosine-protein kinase 4] Tyro4 has been cloned and identified as the rat homolog of the receptor protein tyrosine kinases mouse MEK4 [mouse embryonic kinase-4] and chicken Cek4 [chicken embryonic kinase 4] (Kilpatrick et al, 1996). The human homolog is HEK [human embryo kinase], identical with EphA3 [Eph receptor A3] (see: ephrins).
