soymetides

This name has been given to immunostimulating peptide fragments derived from soybean (Tsuruki et al, 2003).

Soymetide-13 is a tridecapeptide (MITLAIPVNKPGR; Met-Ile-Thr-Leu-Ala-Ile-Pro-Val-Asn-Lys-Pro-Gly-Arg) isolated from a trypsin digest of soybean proteins. This peptide is derived from the soybean beta-conglycinin alpha subunit and corresponds to beta-conglycinin-alpha(173-185). Soymetide-13 has been found to stimulate phagocytosis of human neutrophils. The phagocytosis-stimulating activity is inhibited by the fMLP antagonist Boc-MLP. The peptide also promotes production of TNF-alpha.
