These cells, called also sebaceous cells or sebaceous gland cells or sebaceous epithelial cells, form sebaceous glands, a holocrine gland composed of acini attached to a common excretory duct. These glands are found throughout the skin except on the palms and soles. They are highly androgen sensitive and account for the vast majority of androgen metabolism in the skin.
