ribosomal protein L3

abbr. and approved gene symbol: RPL3. Ribosomal protein L3 is a structural component of the 60S ribosome (60S ribosomal protein L3). A part of the human gene has been cloned by Adams et al (1992). Cuccurese et al (2005) have identified a splice variant. The complete coding sequence of the human RPL3 gene has been deposited in GenBank (X73460). Duga et al (2000) have determined the gene structure, reporting also that introns 1, 3, 5, and 7 encode small nucleolar RNAs (snoRNAs). Ribosomal protein L3 protein has been identified independently as TARBP-b [HIV1 TAR RNA-binding protein B; TAR RNA binding protein B].
