[resolution-phase interaction products] this term has been introduced to refer to a number of lipid mediators that are generated from omega-3 fatty acids eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid (which also yield Protectins). Resolvins act as autacoids during the resolution phase of inflammation and microbial infections (Serhan et al, 2000, 2002, 2008). For two select examples see: Resolvin D2 receptor, Resolvin E1.
